Jamey Thompson
CYCLING, TRIATHLON
Jamey grew up playing sports year-round – football, soccer, baseball, and basketball – eventually focusing on football through high school and college. In his mid-20’s, his desire to compete turned his interest to triathlon. By his early 30’s, he had developed into a competitive endurance athlete, winning overall at regional Olympic Distance races and competing for top age-group spots at Ironman 140.6 and 70.3 events. In the years to come, his focus turned to cycling, both on and off-road. He quickly moved through the Cat 5, 4, and 3 and is now racing as a Category 1 road cyclist.
Jamey earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Biology from Hampden-Sydney College, and currently works with athletes interested in the sport of cycling. Jamey loves being able to share his experiences to help others continually develop as athletes and reach their goals.
Some of Jamey’s athletic accomplishments include:
- 9:36 Ironman
- 4:19 Ironman 70.3
- 3rd place Single-Speed division and 10th overall at Cohutta 100 Mountain Bike Race
- Masters Road Race State Champion 2015
