Mike Horton

CYCLING, RUNNING, TRIATHLON

Mike found cycling by way of skateboarding and BMX. His love of the sport quickly grew and it wasn’t long before he added road, mountain and cyclocross bikes to the stable. Mike found some success racing mountain bikes in New England where he grew up before moving to Atlanta, where he continues to race cyclocross, road and gravel.

After signing up for a half marathon on a whim, the running bug bit Mike hard and he dove headfirst into the ultramarathon scene. He’s run distances from 50k to 100 miles and loves the problem-solving aspect of ultras. It’s never going to go perfectly, and being mentally prepared to adapt to whatever the trail throws at you is one of the most fun and challenging aspects of long distance events.

Mike has worked in many bike shops throughout his career, and is a talented mechanic. But he gets even more joy out of helping athletes reach and exceed their goals, and have some fun along the way! Mike is excited about training methodologies and is really loving the “high carb revolution” fueling strategies that we’re seeing in top athletes across endurance disciplines. You can probably find him in the woods somewhere, eating Oreos out of his pocket.

Mike’s athletic achievements include:

CT State Mountain Bike Champ – Cat 2

Running the Yeti 100 in 21:39 on four days notice

3rd place – Cheehaw Challenge 50k

3rd place – 7 Trails 100 mile
