Science of Speed is honored to announce that the Trent 10k will return for its 14th year in honor of Trent McElroy, his family, and the many families in our community who have experienced and will experience the impacts of childhood cancer.
Trent’s greatest wish was to support children bravely fighting the same battle he fought, and we look forward to continuing to carry that torch with your support!

Proceeds Benefit
In 2025, proceeds will go to Trent’s Touch and The Ripple Project, two Tallahassee non-profit organizations that provide for children and families impacted by pediatric cancer.
Trent’s Touch was founded in 2014 to honor Trent McElroy, who heroically battled a rare skeletomuscular cancer known as rhabdomyosarcoma. Since its inception, the mission of Trent’s Touch has been to bring hope to families of children with cancer. This hope comes by providing financial support to help defer the exorbitant treatment costs.
In September 2019, Katelyn Irwin began “Be Bold Go Gold” to raise awareness for pediatric cancer and funds to support research, families, and local Tallahassee nonprofits. Since then, many events have been held to bring awareness, and over $100,000 has been raised. Since then, “Be Bold, Go Gold” has grown into a non-profit, The Ripple Project, furthering the goal of raising funds for children, families, and pediatric cancer research.
The Course
The 10K & 5K: These out-and-back courses begin at Roberts Elementary School, but you will quickly be ushered through Dublin Downs, a residential neighborhood on Pimlico Drive that boasts stunning tree-canopy-covered roads flat to rolling terrain and a few steep hills that will push your limits and finish on a gradual downhill straight to the finish at Roberts Elementary School.
The 1-Miler: A family-friendly course held on-site at Roberts Elementary School and Montford Middle School. It is predominantly flat and includes both on and off-road sections but does not utilize city streets.
