“What did you Learn?”: The importance of an end of year recap

The end of a race season often means down time, recovery and a little less structure. One of the things I often ask my athletes after an event is, “What did you learn?” It helps us to find some way to improve, adjustments that can be made for future events, places we may need to adjust training to improve on weakness or even something as simple as an equipment change.

I am going to challenge you to take a look at this past season and ask yourself, “What did I learn?” Factor in all of the details and see what worked, what didn’t work, where you can improve and what changes or adjustments would you like to make. Consider your training, race nutrition, race preparation, the events you participated in, sleep quantity, sleep quality, daily nutrition, bike fit, running shoes, stretching, foam rolling and your level of commitment. Leave no stone unturned and once you have addressed these details begin coming up with solutions and 2025 will be the best year yet!
